The new set of dentures fitted for you by Jolly Family Dentistry are custom designed to securely fit the shape of your mouth. That being said, many people with dentures like to use denture adhesive to give that extra level of security while also helping to block out food particles.

If you do happen to have a few food particles work their way between the base of your dentures and the surface of your gums it can cause irritation and even inflammation.

In a situation like this it’s best you should remove your dentures and give them a thorough rinse to wash away the food particles as well as any old denture adhesive. You should then dry them with a clean paper towel. This will provide you with a smooth clean surface to reapply new denture adhesive.

When you are shopping for denture adhesive, you want to always look for the American Dental Association Seal of Acceptance. This seal represents that the ADA has subjected the product to rigorous testing and research to prove its safety and effectiveness.

If you’ve recently been fitted for a set of dentures or a partial and you have questions about the best way to secure them, or keep them clean, please feel free to call Jolly Family Dentistry to schedule an appointment.
